Well, so much for selling the car. Just one call from the usual "do you want to advertise with us" annoyances you always seem to attract. No joy opening a bank account either - we need passports for that and they're still in London. Sigh.
We've had a few estate agents round to value the house. What a shower they all are. You'd think they'd all be quite similar in their valuations, but no - there's a £70,000 difference. They make it all up as they go along, I'm convinced.
As the market is still rock bottom, it seems stupid to sell. I'm thinking that it would be better to remortgage and rent it out. That way, the tenants would in effect be paying the mortgage. We would of course use the money to buy in NZ, and in the fullness of time we would have two houses, one of which would produce an income in retirement. It would certainly give a far larger income than the meagre pittance my private pension promises, unless something dramatic happens over the next few years.
